I saw this preview on 24th September 2009 at the Sony Centre in Soho.
I suppose there was some point to this but I didn't see it.
Julie, a young, bored American wife who worked in a call centre sets herself a project of cooking every dish in a cookery book. The cookery book was written by an earlier bored American, the wife of a sort of diplomat living in France. This latter day pointless activity takes over Julie's life.
Julie (Amy Adms) was tedious and irritating, Julia (Meryl Streep) was vaguely amusing although Paul (Stanley Tucci) her diplomat husband was excellent. There were references to the McCarthy persecutions and their effects on Paul but these were barely explored and the limit of the film's meaningful content.
